It occurred to me recently that the open source movement is really nothing less than a renaissance.  Perhaps that sounds grandiose, but stay with me.

SeeUnity, a company made up of enterprise content integration fankids, has just released Synchronize Express. The tool allows users to shift back and forth from SharePoint to external Enterprise CMS repositories.

Portals and content management systems are widely used in organizations today. For many, the desire to integrate them into a single collaborative environment is critical. But there’s a lot to think about before moving forward. In this article we cover the basic considerations for integrating a CMS into an enterprise portal.

This week, new research shows a huge increase in the use of video email in SMBs.

The desperation with which corporations are trying to throw together Facebook-like solutions for their internal teams is certainly astonishing, but is it wise? Most of you would probably assume so, but Larry Dignan of ZDNet, SmartPlanet and TechRepublic is so against the idea that he compares Facebook for the corporate world to crap. Literally.  

Web analytics company Omniture (news, site) bets that your brand has a Facebook application, and that you’d love to know how it’s performing.  

Email management is difficult. Apart from the problem of unstructured enterprise information floating around in several systems, email is often used by staff as a collaboration tool rather than a method of  communication.

Socialtext (news, site), a purveyor of social solutions for the enterprise, is back with version 4.0 of their platform. This time around they’ve got microblogging channels, filtered activity streams and new tools for group productivity.

As social tagging grows increasingly popular on the Web, organizations are curious to see how this trendy Web 2.0 approach can benefit the business world.

XML-based technical authoring tool provider MadCap (news, site) is back with a pretty sizable load of updates. In addition to the newest releases of their product suites—MadPak and MadPak ML (multilingual)—their publishing software, Flare 6.0, has added support for authoring to mobile devices.
